1. What is the Glorious Flavour Map?
The Glorious Flavour Map is an interactive crowdsourced map of global flavours. It has been launched as a resource for people across the world to pin, share and search interesting, tasty, unique and inspirational flavours and tastes.
Users can pin, through Google Street View, the location of any flavour that grabs their attention - whether that be a home-cooked meal, a restaurant, a market or an ingredient. They can also upload an image and write a review about the flavour.
As well as allowing users to pin meals, recipes, or natural produce they have experienced, attach images and write reviews, the application is fully searchable by location, cuisine, price and description, serving as a worldwide guide for people looking for taste inspiration.

3. What to pin
Anything food and flavour related that you think is worth sharing with the rest of the world – maybe it is an amazing dish in a local restaurant, a street market snack in Brazil, an inspirational food market in Spain, an unusual ingredient or spice in Bangkok or your mum's roast dinner in Sheffield. We are keen to crowdsource as many diverse pins as possible to showcase what fantastic, inspirational flavours there are out there waiting to be discovered.
4. How to amend a pin
You can amend your pin at the preview stage by clicking on the 'Back' button. To make changes to a submitted pin you must submit a second, corrected pin and request the deletion of the 1st pin via the report button.
5. How to search
You can explore the map in three different ways:
- Browse the entries by clicking on the spoon icons to view each flavour submission. You can choose to browse specific flavour categories by using the 'Filter' button to hide or show each category.
- Type a location or keyword in the search box – all existing references to this word will appear in the drop-down box.
- The map is also fully searchable by location, cuisine, price and description. Use the tick boxes to choose your search parameters.
6. I can't use Google Street View
Street View is a functionality of Google Maps which lets you explore places around the world through a 360-degree street-level image. It works by dragging and dropping a man icon on to Google Maps in the location that you would like to view. You can then move around within the view using the arrow icons on the left of the map. Click here for full details on how to use Google Street View.
Street View does not currently have global coverage. It is still possible to pin a flavour in locations not currently covered by Street View – just follow the steps in point two. The map will not zoom you in to street level but your flavour will still be tagged. Click here to view Street View's global coveragel.
7. How do I flag a pin as inappropriate?
The map has been launched as a tool for people to express their views and opinions on flavours and tastes that they have experienced. However, if you see content which you believe to be inappropriate you can flag this to the administrators using the 'report' button. We will review the post and amend or remove content as appropriate.
8. How does the leader board work?
The leader board displays the top ten posts in the following categories:
- Most recent
- Most popular
- User who has made the most contributions
9. How will GLORIOUS! use the information?
GLORIOUS! is passionate about global flavours and combining new and unusual taste combinations to form the basis of its award-winning products. The map will also be available as a Facebook application and an iPhone and Android app.
